Please work on the following with your child: Letter sounds, recognizing letters, recognizing numbers, reading sight words, recognizing periods and question marks, decoding words, recognizing solid shapes- cubes, cylinders, rectangular prisms, and spheres, adding and subtracting, tying their shoelaces, and zipping their jackets.
Practice Prayers: The Lord’s Prayer, Prayer Before Meals, Angel of God, Sign of the Cross
Practice counting to 100 or more. Count objects, cereal, etc. and practice taking away. Make number sentences to go with your adding and subtracting. Have your child read sight words and sound out words that are easy for them. Build confidence that they can read words if they try it. Practice writing lists, words, names, etc. in a journal or on a picture. Label pictures with words that go with the picture.
Use cereal, pennies, etc. at home to practice putting them in groups of ten, sorting them, making patterns, counting to 32, estimating groups, etc.
Look for Sight words in books you are reading at home and practice sounding out words as you read together.
